Title:                                 Senior Broadcast Manager, Media and Public Relations

Reports to:                  Director, Media and Public Relations

Job Summary:             The Senior Broadcast Manager is responsible for booking all national broadcast media for The Heritage Foundation. This position books Heritage experts on national media outlets, maintains press lists, and grows relationships with media bookers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-level booking environment.

 

Job Duties:

  • Book Heritage experts and staff daily on national television and radio programs, with an emphasis on high-level cable news placements.
  • Coordinate times and schedules of experts to ensure availability.
  • Send frequent pitches to broadcast outlets on Heritage research and news of the day.
  • Reply to requests for Heritage experts from broadcast media, serving as the face of Heritage for all national media bookers.
  • Identify Heritage experts with national media potential, build their brands, and provide feedback to maximize their reach and opportunities.
  • Use previous relationships with bookers to create new opportunities for Heritage experts on national media.
  • Work with the rest of the department to coordinate press campaigns.
  • Work with the Director of Media and Public Relations to ensure media opportunities are aligned with Heritage priorities and messaging.
  • Develop booking contacts to increase Heritage’s reach and reputation.
  • Continually update Heritage contact lists to ensure coverage in all top media markets.
  • Work with Heritage experts to understand their target audiences, priority topics, and scheduling preferences.
  • Conduct media trainings and mock interviews for Heritage experts as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Education:                   College-level experience encouraged

Experience:                 7+ years of experience booking in public relations or journalism; experience working in conservative politics preferred

Communication:           Excellent verbal and writing skills

Technology:                Microsoft Suite; Meltwater experience a plus

  • Possess a deep roster of current relationships with TV bookers and ability to cultivate and grow new relationships.

  • Ability to thrive and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hard working, resourceful, and creative with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to provide and receive direction and feedback.

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $125,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
