Title:                            Director, Marketing

Reports to:                Vice President, Communications

Job Summary:          The Director of Marketing is the foremost owner and steward of the Heritage brand, ensuring that it maintains clarity, strength, and cohesion across all platforms. As such, the Marketing Director oversees the strategic direction and execution of marketing activities to promote the Heritage brand, using website, products, messaging, market research, design, and paid advertising to promote conservative policy solutions and build awareness of The Heritage Foundation. Leading the creative and marketing teams, the Director of Marketing also oversees relationships with outside advertising, web, production, digital, and research firms, and acts as an internal and external brand ambassador and advocate.

 

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals and priorities that clearly and persuasively articulate Heritage’s vision and direction to key audiences.
  • Drive brand positioning, differentiation, and brand equity to enhance reach and brand awareness.
  • Optimize comprehensive, multi-channel marketing efforts to grow Heritage’s reach, increase brand awareness, and drive priorities, including web, email, print, television, radio, and out-of-home advertising.
  • Oversee the creative expression of the Heritage brand through print and static digital design and production, maintaining and enforcing brand guidelines.
  • Oversee the production, development, and maintenance of new and existing website projects.
  • Establish department priorities and goals, prepare and manage the department budget to maximize ROI, provide overall direction for staff activities, and lead by example. Use department resources effectively to achieve department and Foundation objectives.
  • Recommend department staffing levels. Attract, recruit, and retain talent to fill approved positions to grow team capabilities. Enhance the professional and career development of department staff through effective training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Serve as lead within Heritage, providing strategic advice and coordination for marketing and branding activities that cross multiple departments.
  • Maintain strong connections with other conservative groups and policy organizations, sharing marketing campaign strategies and collaborating on projects to increase our effectiveness.
  • Speak as a representative of Heritage at donor events, coalition conferences, and internal meetings.

 

Qualifications:

Education:             Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, advertising, or related field. Master’s degree a plus.

Experience:           Minimum of 12-15 years in marketing, communications, or related field, with management, marketing, brand management, website, and/or advertising experience.

Communication:   Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior executives and external stakeholders. An articulate advocate of Heritage’s vision and mission.

The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $150,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
