Title:                         Research Fellow in Regulatory Policy

Reports to:             Director, Roe Institute

Job Summary:          The Research Fellow in Regulatory Policy is a key member of the Heritage Foundation’s regulatory policy team. Drawing from practical experience, this person will not only provide sophisticated regulatory policy analysis but help drive implementation. Working with the department’s economic experts, the Research Fellow must meld the technical and legal processes associated with regulatory actions with their economic impact. An enthusiastic collaborator will excel in this position as regulation is a key aspect to much of the organization’s research activity. In addition to published work, he/she is expected to advance Heritage priorities through testifying before Congress, conducting media interviews, and participating in major public functions and professional conferences related to regulatory policy.

Job Duties:

  • Advise management on programs which keep Heritage in leadership role
  • Manage discrete projects as assigned by department director and senior management
  • Routinely initiate and take responsibility for organizing major events and meetings
  • Collaborate with regulatory policy team within department and throughout Heritage

Qualifications:

Education:                  Ph.D. or the acquisition of equivalent level of technical and research skills

Experience:                 10 or more years of experience in the public policy field; strong body of public policy publications, including several scholarly or professional publications.

Communications:       Accomplished writer and influential public speaker; able to communicate policy positions in multiple media

Achievement:              Demonstrated ongoing ability to achieve decisive changes in public policy.

  • Expert knowledge of policy area and of legislative and executive branch figures having influence on its development.
