Title:                                 Research Associate, Border Security and Immigration Center

Reports to:                  Director, Border Security and Immigration Center

Job Summary:             The Research Associate engages in research, publication, education programs, and other work pioneering border security, immigration, and homeland security policy analysis. The Research Associate also collaborates with Heritage divisions and other organizations as appropriate on border security, immigration, and homeland security issues. This position provides support, including organizing meetings, events, and other duties, to the Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center. The Research Associate exercises sound judgement, coordinates multiple, time-sensitive projects/priorities, and is a well-organized, detail-oriented member of the team.

 

Job Duties:

  • Research and write policy papers on border security, immigration integrity, and homeland security policies.
  • Strategize, plan, and execute projects.
  • Plan public and private events and meetings.
  • Plan panels and events at conferences.
  • Write testimony for Congressional committee hearings.
  • Provide research and talking points for print, radio, and broadcast media events.
  • Participate in the public policy community.
  • Provide policy guidance for congressional and state legislative offices.

 

Qualifications:

Education:                   Bachelor’s degree

Experience:                 2-5 years of work experience and familiarity with border security/immigration

and/or homeland security issues

Communication:           Strong written and verbal communication skills

Technology:                Microsoft Suite

The salary range for this role is $58,000 - $65,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
