Title:                         Program Associate, Congressional Relations

Reports to:             Director, Congressional Relations

Job Summary:          The Program Associate is responsible for promoting Heritage research on Capitol Hill within the economic policy issue area.  Issues to include but not limited to: Energy, Economy, Housing, Technology, Regulation, Budget and Agriculture.  Activities may include: scheduling in person briefings with Congressional staff and Members, managing working groups, coordinating a Congressional fellowship program, coordinating and hosting Congressional events, and providing issue specific digital marketing. The Program Associate works in conjunction with the designated Research and Marketing departments to develop education and outreach strategies, and to assure effective and timely program management.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and execute Congressional staff briefings on topics within issue area.
  • Actively contribute to Heritage issues management discussions supplying strategies and information relevant to the discussion.
  • Plan and execute educational fellowship programs as necessary for Congressional staff under direction of the Director of Congressional Relations.
  • Communicate Heritage policy positions on Capitol Hill and in coalition meetings.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of the any Members Conference and the Emerging Leaders Retreat.
  • Digital promotion of Heritage research products including email marketing.

Qualifications:

Education:                   B.A.

Experience:                 2 to 3 years of relevant experience; extensive knowledge of Capitol Hill and The Heritage Foundation

Communication:         Skilled writer

Technology:                MS Office and Outlook

Special Skills/Requirements:  

  • Understand and support the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the department's goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of and ability to articulate Heritage policy positions
  • Confident and motivated self-starter with the ability to balance multiple projects at once.
  • Innovative thinker with excellent time management skills
  • Advanced skill with MS Office software; skill with database management and social media.
