Title: Research Associate
Reports to: Director, Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies
Job Summary: The Research Associate (RA) is an administrative and research position with the possibility of doing some writing. The RA has primary responsibility, under the direction of the Director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, for working on various ongoing Center projects including maintaining and overseeing our Litigation Resource Bank Repository, reviewing and commenting upon key decisions by state appellate courts, working on the revised Heritage Guide to the Constitution, assisting with our moot court and appellate advocacy program, and helping to maintain our various databases (Election Fraud Database, the Election Integrity Scorecard, Defensive Gun Use Database, Judicial Tracker). The RA must have outstanding organizational skills, a can-do attitude with a passion for advancing conservative causes, demonstrated experience in legal analysis, and the ability to work well with others with only general supervision.
- Oversee priority projects including our Litigation Resource Bank Repository and reviewing key decisions by state appellate courts
- Primary administrative role supporting our moot court and appellate advocacy program.
- Coordinate with outside scholars working on the revised Heritage Guide to the Constitution.
- Working on other Meese Center projects including our Election Fraud Database, our Election Integrity Scorecard, our Defensive Gun Use Database, and our Judicial Tracker.
- Conduct scholarly research and policy analysis; develop a command of assigned issue areas; develop new areas of focus; and expand the Meese Center’s mission.
- Provide administrative support for the public interest law program, legal conferences, and other Meese Center events and meetings.
- Engage in professional research and analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Meese Center.
Education: B.A. or Paralegal Degree
Experience: 1 to 3 years of legal research experience, preferred
Communication: Outstanding writer and effective speaker
Technology: MS Office and Outlook
