Title:                         Online Membership Programs Manager

Reports to:             Director, Online Membership Programs

Job Summary:

The Online Membership Manager develops and executes innovative strategies to drive revenue from and build relationships with Heritage Foundation members. Using tools like e-mail, search marketing, online advertising, social media and other non-traditional media, the Manager is responsible for marketing to donors to and potential donors to The Heritage Foundation. The Manager will use robust data and experimentation to design online programs that maximize revenue and strengthen relationships with supporters.

Job Duties:

  • Design and execute online solicitation campaigns for Heritage via e-mail, social media, and other new media, with careful attention to detail around messaging, segmentation and follow-up. Importantly, the Manager should ensure online programs meet revenue targets while remaining within expense budgets.
  • Collaborate with Heritage staff and outside partners to develop multi-channel fundraising appeals, build relationships with members, and strengthen Heritage’s online infrastructure.
  • Analyze data to consistently revise and improve fundraising activities with the goal of maximizing revenue and building relationships with our members.

Skill Factors:

Education:                   BA/BS

Experience:                 4-5 years in direct marketing (online or offline) or related fields. Knowledge of direct marketing techniques, online technology, current events, and conservative thought is essential.

Communication:          Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills are essential.

Technology:                Knowledge of WordPress or similar blog tools, data reporting tools like google analytics, online testing tools like Optimizely or VWO, HTML are highly desirable.

Special Skills/Requirements:  

  • Understand and support the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the Development department’s goals and objectives.
  • Strong written communication skills that include the ability to write, proofread, and edit web content on a regular basis.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
